Research - Mood board
I started to gather inspiration for the look and feel that I wanted to achieve in my designs. With a focus on the brand tone brief, interactive states, typography, colour and iconography.
Create Logo
I needed a simple, minimal wordmark logo which would suit the playfulness of the brand name. It needed to be easy to read and feel reliable, comfortable and inviting. I wanted people to feel this would be a safe place for them to store their money and savings.

Create typography scale
The font I chose had to be clear and legible, whilst still feeling fun, playful and memorable. I explored lots of different fonts whilst researching typography for the logo design, and I decided to use Montserrat for the logo and interface.
Create colour palette
When creating the colour palette, I first defined all the green shades, considering colour theory and branding to ensure they convey a sense of trust and playfulness. Recognising the challenge of defining accent and secondary colours without designing some interface elements, I decided to revisit these choices once the design process is underway. Additionally, I conducted thorough accessibility checks on all colour combinations, noting which ones could be used together to maintain clarity and inclusivity.

Lessons Learnt
Throughout the process of designing the banking app, I gained valuable insights and discovered areas for improvement. Here are some key takeaways:
Inspiration can come from unexpected places. Beyond other banking applications, I found creative ideas in various sources - anything that evoked the feelings I wanted my designs to convey.
Adapting designs to different breakpoints, especially for desktop, was a significant challenge. I spent considerable time fine-tuning the desktop layout, and have since still been revisiting the layout and exploring ways to further improve it.
