Usability testing
User interviews
I started by outlining the main purpose for users in visiting the Global Tracker, and learning about their experience when visiting the product to complete these tasks, including their pain points, frustrations and problems with the current product.
Insights
There are many functionalities which are only useful for admins and developers, leading to a product which doesn't feel like its been designed for the user
Problems with loading time and loading irrelevant data
Complicated tracking process, which requires information which users would not always have to update the status

Prioritising goals
Understanding user flows
Identifying solutions
I began reviewing the existing product, to identify any areas that will need to be improved. There were some accessibility issues that were found, which were a priority to fix, and many areas that could be made clearer to the user.

Lessons Learnt
As this was my first lone UX/UI design project at AtkinsRéalis, there was lots to learn in gaining responsibility for the designs and working with the team.
There were some development constraints which meant some buttons had to be moved, like ‘Export to Excel’ and ‘Refresh data. I would have liked to create some more contrast and visual hierarchy with these, but decided this could be a future development to explore.
A new idea for the hover interaction which I tested on the ‘Add’ buttons - this was the first time I designed an interaction quite like this, but its performance in testing proved that this could make particular interactions and their functionality clearer, whilst providing a more simple, minimal interface initially.
